This presentation proposal focuses on supporting teacher aides in creating inclusive, engaging, and joyful learning experiences within self-contained classrooms. It will explore practical strategies for fostering student participation through collaborative activities, sensory-friendly environments, and project-based learning tailored to diverse needs. The session will also highlight total communication approaches recommended by speech-language pathologists, including the use of visual supports, gestures, AAC tools, and multimodal communication strategies to increase student access and engagement. Participants will leave with adaptable ideas and ready-to-use approaches that promote inclusion, communication, and meaningful classroom participation for all learners.
