This professional development course explores neuroaffirming educational practices through the lens of speech therapy and neuroscience. Participants will deepen their understanding of how the brain processes communication, language, and learning, and how to apply this knowledge to support neurodivergent learners. Grounded in current research and disabled voices, the course emphasizes strengths-based, respectful approaches to speech and language intervention that honor neurological diversity and promote meaningful, inclusive outcomes in educational settings.
We’re using the science of reading research and assisting exceptional children who learn best through sensory input. In this session, we will work together to discover how our neurodivergent students learn best with the science of reading research in action. We will look at play-based techniques that help us construct and gamify our supports in ways that target sensory receptors.
